Knight & McDonald Architects are based in Thurso and have provided a professional architectural design service for its clients throughout Caithness, Sutherland and beyond since the 1970's.
We are a general practice covering all property and project types from the most modest of private residential work through to larger scale public and commercial projects. Feasibility studies, new build, extensions, refurbishment and conversion work all form part of the practices expertise. We attempt to build a strong working relationship with our clients so that together we meet, and hopefully surpass, our clients aspirations for their project.
Over many years we have built up close working relationships with other professional construction consultants who operate in the area such as quantity surveyors, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers and many other important disciplines. We are able to put together a fully integrated team of consultants for our clients so that informed decisions on how the project is to proceed in terms of design, quality, cost and deliverability can be made quickly and with confidence. Each project has different requirements and in order to realise the building the client aspires to we carefully balance considerations on issues such as context, aesthetics, sustainability, functionality and value for money all with an aim of providing excellent buildings which respect the landscape and traditional built heritage of the area as well as being a pleasure to live and work in.
